Many people I know make a list of things they want to do and then, structure their life accordingly. It’s those ‘10 things to do before I turn 30’ or ‘100 things to do before I die’ list. I have also tried making such lists, not once but many times. But somehow I have never been able to stick to them. It just doesn’t happen.
However, going by recent experience, I don’t think I am gonna make any more lists. Simply because the kind of things that often come our way are things that we could never imagine. For instance, as a MAD volunteer, I never ever imagined I will…
…. Meet the First Lady of the United States.
…Have her standing barefoot in front of me, asking me to shoot questions.
…Make her play hopscotch.
…Stand frozen when she rests one hand on my shoulder and wears her shoes with the other hand. And grin to glory when she will pat my back and say ‘Good job!’
…Do the bhangra standing in the middle of the Library Hall of the Mumbai University.
Trust me. I am not making any lists. Sometimes, the things that are destined to come our way would NEVER ever find their way into the list. So why bother?
