Not Kool

That’s the name of a kindergarten school in my neighborhood. I know some people might go “AWW…” over it, but I wouldn’t let my child anywhere close to this school. Sorry.

To begin with, English language anyway has fucked up spellings, with no set logic whatsoever. And on top of that, you introduce quirky spellings! Tell me, how on earth am I supposed to explain the child that SCHOOL is correct spelling, but SKOOL is well… correct on the signboard, but incorrect everywhere else.

I pity the teachers who would be answering dumbfounded kids day in and day out.

“But TEACHER..!!!”

Hey... being a teacher myself, i understand your concerns... however... would also like to add... that language never remain static... things that appear wrong to us in a given instance of time or space or place... may be actually right in another... so for some color is wrong and colour is right and viceversa... some some jungle was a hindi word till it got an entry into formal vocab of english... itz just a matter of time... however... your concern is still valid from examination and assessment point of view.. but trust me.. you dont have to worry much.. children learn as they grow for themselves... and if they don't.. then they change the vocab :)

Rohit makes an interesting point, but the signage of a school, a learning establishment, should be grammatically correct for heavens sake. Language does indeed change over decades and popular slang makes it's way into the dictionary, but professional organisations should, and generally do, adhere to real words. 'Skool' will never be an accepted spelling of the word. Ever.
